What is the 28-day healing cycle?

TattooCare uses a standard 28-day healing model based on typical tattoo recovery. Days 0-13 represent the initial healing and scabbing phase, where your tattoo may ooze, scab, and feel tender. Days 14-27 are the peeling phase, where the top layer of skin sheds and your tattoo may appear cloudy or flaky. Day 28 and beyond means your tattoo is fully healed and settled into the skin.

How does the app determine my tattoo's healing stage?

The app automatically calculates the healing stage based on the date you added the tattoo. It counts the number of days since creation and maps it to the appropriate stage: Initial (0-13 days), Peeling (14-27 days), or Fully Healed (28+ days). You don't need to manually update the stage — it happens automatically.

Can I add multiple tattoos to the app?

Yes! TattooCare supports tracking an unlimited number of tattoos. Each tattoo has its own record with photos, care logs, artist information, and healing progress. You can view all your tattoos on the home screen and tap any one to see its details.

Where is my data stored? Is it safe?

All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. No data is sent to any server, cloud, or third party. Your tattoo records, photos, and care logs never leave your device. Your data is protected by iOS's built-in security features, including device encryption (when a passcode is set) and app sandboxing.

Do I need an account or internet connection to use the app?

No. TattooCare works completely offline. No account registration is required, and no internet connection is needed. You can use the app anywhere, anytime, without worrying about connectivity.

What permissions does the app need and why?

TattooCare requests two permissions: (1) Photo Library access — so you can select existing photos to document your tattoo's healing progress, and (2) Camera access — so you can take new photos directly within the app. Both permissions are only used when you actively choose to add a photo. You can revoke these permissions in your device Settings at any time.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual tattoo records and care log entries from within the app. To remove all data, simply delete the app from your device — this permanently removes all stored information since everything is kept locally.

Can I back up or export my tattoo records?

Currently, data is stored locally via SwiftData. You can back up your device using iCloud or iTunes/Finder, which will include the app's data. We plan to add export functionality in a future update.
