Q: Do I need an internet connection to use SplitBill Travel?
No. SplitBill Travel works completely offline. All data is stored locally on your device. You can use the app anywhere, even without internet access.
Q: How many members can I add to a bill group?
There is no hard limit on the number of members you can add to a bill group. Add as many friends or family members as needed for your trip.
Q: What currencies are supported?
SplitBill Travel supports 9 currencies: CNY (Chinese Yuan), USD (US Dollar), EUR (Euro), JPY (Japanese Yen), GBP (British Pound), HKD (Hong Kong Dollar), TWD (Taiwan Dollar), KRW (Korean Won), and THB (Thai Baht). You can set a default currency in Settings.
Q: How does the smart settlement work?
The smart settlement algorithm calculates the minimum number of transfers needed to settle all debts. It analyzes who owes whom and generates an optimized plan so that money flows efficiently with the fewest transactions.
Q: Can I split expenses unevenly?
Yes! SplitBill Travel supports both equal splits and weighted splits. For example, if someone stays in a more expensive room, you can assign them a higher weight so they pay proportionally more.
Q: How do I back up my data?
Go to Settings > Data Backup > Export All Data. This will generate a JSON file containing all your bill groups, transactions, and settings. You can share this file via AirDrop, email, or save it to iCloud Drive. To restore, use the Import feature.
Q: Is my data safe?
Absolutely. All your data is stored locally on your device. SplitBill Travel does not collect, transmit, or store any data on external servers. You have complete control over your data.
Q: What are the expense categories?
SplitBill Travel includes 6 built-in categories: Meals, Transport, Accommodation, Entertainment, Shopping, and Other. Each expense can be assigned to one of these categories for easy tracking.
